As the only country in the world (Yup we made history again) that believes our citizens are not mature enough to manage their finances in the light of 2 new casinos being opened, we have been entrusted with a sacred duty of managing yet a tougher factor before we may indulge in what our country invested millions to bring to us.. While i still struggle to save up my first $100 x2 casino levy to visit there two new attractions, news of $70million of levies collected since may is shocking to me in many ways..

1. The levy was introduced to deter Singaporeans from visiting too often and end up bankrupt or in debt.. But in 1 month, no more than 7 hundred thousand of citizens have passed thru the foreboding welcome mat specially for locals.. Is the deterrence really working?

2. All of 2 sudden, the goverment has $70 million of funds never seen since the casino ban of 1973.. In light of incidents reminiscent of the 2 illustrations below, 'benefitting the Community' is a vague comment i wish more transparency on..

Money sure is evil huh?

In a blink of an eye (a long blink i must say) nus year 3 sem 1 has gone by without a single post.. We could interpret this in many ways but my fav explanation is nothing really life changing happened since i returned in jan.. I do have some old posts i prepared before but did not publish since i was too lazy to link them.. I think i'll just upload it eitherways since this is a personal Blog to archive my memories.. Maybe since i returned back to singapore just to be thrown back to the fray of a demanding year 3 lsm i didn't quite indulge myself in 'welcome home' festivities save lets say with the greenies..

For the first time i took 4 core lsm modules to compensate for the ues i took in UofT namely immunology, infectious diseases, human pharmacology and molecular biotech.. I also took nature of language as a level 1 ue with fel and friends.. From this sem i found a piqued interest in immunology that ultimately landed me a fyp professor from the singapore immunology network (SigN) on liver cancer immunology~ Will be starting my FYP from monday onwards! Kinda early but I'm thinking of it like a kinda internship too so its not so bad~ =D Examinations werent too fantastic given how I was still in the study slack mood and missing most lectures but at least my cramming did yield some good answer turnouts during the finals~

Highlights of this semester would be my first time trying the high elements obstacle at bedok reservoir, NUS Open House, numerous CNY gatherings including the first SRACC Reunion dinner held in SRJC~ I also joined OCBC Cycle 2010 and helped friends photograph during Aviva Ironman and did some coverage for NUS Biathlon 2010~ Since my return too, I'm pretty accustomed to the weekly visits of my niece charlotte when we look after her during weekends~ She may be difficult at times being a easy bored baby and sometimes cries very bad frmo nightmares~ But I must say she's already a much more manageable baby than i expected since she's pretty intelligent and will stop crying when she get what she wants~ A bundle of joy every week! My family and my bro's family also had a good catch up time visiting the new Resorts World Sentosa IR for 3D2N too~! A good place for family indeed compared to the messy construction mess called Marina Bay Sands~

A falling star
Least I fall alone.
I can't explain what you can't explain.
You're finding things that you didn't know
I look at you with such disdain
