yeah! Its the weekend again! its scary how time flies though~ phew.. the day before, i went to shaw towers to check out the prices for the backpack i was looking for... narrowed down my search to either the tamrac adventure 9 or the lowepro compurover AW at $180 and $190 respectively... its ALOT more expensive than i hoped and I'm thinking that i am better off without a backpack for now, rather just upsize my slingbag to accomodate my new lens... sigh...

after that went to marina sq at 6pm and got the tickets for wall-e! later on when hazel doreen and wee siong came, we sat together with veron simone and the rest of the i-week com as we enjoyed the $2 movie! haha super value for money.. the movie i gotta say is pretty slow and very simplistic... its not surprising to see some people sleeping due to a lack of voice acting (only WaaaahHhHh----E and EeEEEEeevvvVaaaa~) its like any other pixar movie with funny and emotional moments... at first i found it hard to catch that the white robot was actually female (?) and watched as a love story emerged between 2 robots.. hmmm..

wanting to have an early night, my hopes were dashed when my dad told me he had some problems logging into an account he paid for... after investigating for an hour or so, i found out that it was a scam site that just made my dad pay for it without any real services, rather it sends you instructions on how to download freeware! was desperately hoping that it wasnt a scam and there is some kinda privileged service, but reality sucks.. yet another victim of crime... cybercrime... those people who made such things should just die... choke on their own laughter and die...

woke up at 4.45am yesterday and washed up and headed to SAFRA tampines for a part time job for a rope skipping event that chris lobang-ed to the SRACC, was $12/hr doing ushering duties as they broke a guiness world record of the most people doing skipping simultaneously for 3minutes.. there were TONNES of primary sch kids that made the few of us feel really old.. (they are like born in 2002? ZOMG!) even the only JC kids from VJC looked so young and immature... hahaa.. one of our fellow worker was just 18 and was oogling the VJC gals but its kinda shocking how come i dont see the excitement anymore.. *shrugs*

after lectures till 9.15pm i went to the NUS guild house waiting to drop by to visit the SRJC alumni for the teachers day cerebrations but felt very left out so i left halfway and headed home... today was quite bad due to the lack of sleep and also my jeans zip spoiled... really gotta thank caleb and jun kok for helping me get berms from jk so that i dont have to walk around with my laptop covering my groin area all the time.. like what caleb said, a friend in need is a friend indeed... its really good to know that i have friends that do look out for me... =]

phew... finally home... just got back from the NUS University Cultural Centre... Nope I ain't there for a repeat telecast of the national day rally, rather i was there for the timbre music fest!! its a free concert organised by the NUS Centre for the Arts and being my first time attending their events i gotta say it rocks!!

not only was it free admission, there was free flow of stella artoise (i drank 3 cups) and a free food coupon for the first 100! being there 15min before the start, i got the food coupon and got the timbre thin crust pITZAAAA for free! hahaa (i can hear the greenies laughing) woots! FRUUuUuEEEEEEEeEEeE PITTTtZzAaas!!! omg... too bad i had dinner before that or i would have bought another! =P

my history with timbre started a year ago or so when the green team went to timbre to commemorate the farewells of our colleagues from starhub... the times we had there were fun with cai quan and lotsa funny games that got us wasted ALL THE TIME... but it was also through them i heard really good music and went to look for them, like muse - time is running out (still one of my favs) and red hot chilli peppers - give it away~ the feeling of live music just cant be satiated by just the CD track! gotta be there to hear the difference!

earlier, there were performances by rick steele, the ublues, soulfellas, 53A, Reverie and Renee! though every time i went to timbre with the greenies before ended with me hugging my best friend (the toilet bowl / alley outside timbre) i could tell through my intoxicated stupour that the music was great.. and today was no exception!

really impressed with the standard of music and vocals of the singers~ the crowd was more reserved with losta people just there to win the macbook air (1st prize) so i just sat down and enjoyed the show with pam and her friends... i have so many friends but none of them interested in live music... boy what they have missed man...

though i didn't win the macbook air.. =( my belly is filled (BOOZE + PITZAAAAS) and i think the alcohol helped me to run again! hahaa... surprisingly my legs seemed to have fully recovered from the AHM fatigue! woohoo.. ready to run tml man! meanwhile its tutorial time!!

Cheerios!

phew.. school life has started in full force and I find my life kinda in limbo... havent really got into serious mugging, the canoeing alumni isn't as active as i hope (due to lack of participation), my laopo4 has been dormant in my drycab for a whole week already, and going to school and back on my own.. its almost like those monochromatic movies of old with no life in it...

oh wells.. at least i have someting to blog about! haha just ran the Army Half Marathon yesterday... given that i only trained up till 6km, i was quite surprised my body could hold out without stopping till about 14km when my legs ached terribly to the point of cramp/muscle pull.. really gotta thank liang kiat for accompanying me for the entire run as we chat and all... can see he really slow down alot for me but insisted to keep running together even as i asked him to go ahead... now thats a true friend.. =] stopped alot of times at the water points and was quite frustrated with the new route around marina barrage.. looks nice on the map and all but it turned out to be those outfield tarred road (rough at times, soft and *sinking* effect at other times) that made the running especially painful for me... all in all we set out to complete by 2hr15min and we hit on the dot! hahaa

didn't see much familar faces this time around except for some regulars from AOAC and qian qin, ebel, wei xiong... wasnt as fun as 2006 when i first ran AHM where i met sooo many friends from start till end! though my legs still ache and on tiger balm euphoria, the sense of satisfaction is there to have completed the race.. its not about the timing and how fast but how one endures the race... truly run your own race.. and true to that i've signed up for the SCM 2008 42km run and will be running the Nike+ Run this sunday! Hope to beat my PB from the RunNUS 2007 of 47min for the 10km since the route is gonna be flat... lets go!

oh i also got this gift from my SOW freshies... very suggestive themes inside, and i doubt its contents will pass facebook's censorship hence, just a picture of outside~~

hahaa really appreciate their effort in making this gift! thank you johnny english! meanwhile I really have to stop my limbo life and finish burning the dvds for my freshies! and yah i just found out fabby has been attached for 2months already! hahaa so sad can... last to know... what a friend indeed... no wonder he doesnt reply my smses since 2 months ago... lolx.. shall plan a party soon man~~ wonder when's my turn?!? >.<

woots! today i brought my 70-200mm f4/L IS to school in the lens pouch as i don't have a bag big enough for it... was alot of trouble avoiding bumps and hugging it like a baby... but it was worth it! went to look for the kittens i saw the week before and happily went shooting them! spent alot of time waiting at times when they were sleeping and they slowly came up! omg... i totally loving my lens!

bleahs today went to town to look for a new camera bag with my addition.. silly me.. never check and assumed the shops were open! Both CP and TK were closed! arghh.. all that walking for nothing... took a bus that was crazily packed and was super grumpy... got off feeling damn du lan... saw some birds... arh well...

oh wells... at least lao po 4 (+ 70-200mm f4/L IS USM) saved me from a terrible day!

Congrats to Team Singapore for getting a silver!!

WEEK 2 HERE I COME!!

My mind's unweaving/ 11:29 PM

woohoo!! I have finally bought my 3rd lens! introducing the 70 - 200mm F4/L IS USM!! bought it for $1.4k after much deliberation... that completes the lens collection i need!

1. 17 - 40mm f4/L USM
For general purpose acting as a pro standard lens. Use extensively in event coverage, landscape photography and any other random stuff!!

2. 50mm f1.8 Mk II
Bought this for the big big aperture! 1.8! woohoo love the bokeh it produces.. though low quality but its sharpness and dof always makes me yearn for more from my 1st prime lens! Useful for portaits!

3. 70 - 200mm f4/L IS USM
Newest and last addition to the family (for at least 5 years) that i will use to capture moving subjects (e.g sports) as well as hopefully some nature shots!

now i'm like SUPER broke... but hoping to build up my portfolio as a CCA of sorts to occupy me this semester and hopefully start getting some paid shoots to cover the dent made on my bank account so far~ =D

arrhhh with the start of a new semester.. things must change too mah! hahaa... yeah I've decided to move all my photographic stuff to a separate blog! making it my official photoblog and possible web-blog to advertise my portfolio! heeez~ not really good with website stuff so just man man lai lor~ finally this blog can be full time deming's blog~

one week into sch... i got a 3 day school week every week! hahaa free day on wednesday and thursday.. but without exams /tutorials so abit lost... kinda wasted it away if you ask me.. vacanted my wednesday so that i may be able to help the SRJC junior team every week (as long as schoolwork doesnt own me).. is really great meeting friends again in school... though its also sian that some seem of them seem to show the cold shoulder... sadly there are such superficial people around in university... oh wells.. their loss! haahaa

trying to find balance in my life, with new involvement by joining the NUS Photographic Society as a member, and possibly looking for some exco positions in a NUS club to boost my resume... with my committments to the SRACC i think i'll have to wait for one year first then try to run for office next year ba... was considering running for some hall event to earn a place in hall but sadly KE7 with which i applied through my pal fabby never did give me a chance, so now i'm contemplating trying out maybe KR, PGP or even RH just to stay for one sem... even with a 3 day week, the travelling of 1.5hrs to and 1.5hrs back is really killing me... worst come to worst may have to request to stay at my aunts place again... sigh... why dont they build the university in Sengkang... damnit...

Wow.. Life has been VERY VERY hectic the last whole week, hence the lack of updates! hahaa.. since its resumed its name as a BLOG lets talk about life!

Warning: POSSIBLY THE LONGEST POST EVER!

Date: 28th July 2008
I rushed down to NUS in the morning at 11am to personally request for the module ST2238 to be allocated to me.. chilled at megabites for an hour or so.. went home about 2pm... took my bike to lorong ah soo to change brake pads.. wanted the uncle to tune for me.. but he was damn bad mannered and just shrug me off and all.. damnit.. to think he would at least do some servicing for my bike i bought from him one year ago! Ungrateful INGRATE!! Bad karma! after that cycled to SRJC along with my laptop and chaired the SRJC Alumni Canoeing Chapter as President.. finally nominated an Exco and laid the frameworks to start many things in WY 08/09

Date: 29th July 2008
woke up at 5.30am... cycled to compass point and dismantled my bike to flag a cab... the first two hyundai cabs didnt wanna pick me up and luck hit me when a london cab happily took me in.. reached changi jetty and met up with the rest of the expedition grp and off we went to desaru!! woohoo!! was one of three guys who brought their own bikes and one of them is pro cyclist! hahaa was arranged in same group as him... we reached pangarang jetty and cycled to sungei ringit for lunch at marybrown after 20km.. then cycled to ostrich farm then to batu layar for the gorgeous sea view.. then after another 30km reach desaru after a string of mild slopes (which killed me) before reaching desaru! had star gazing for a while and some card games before settling fo the night..

Date: 30th July 2008
Woke up at 5am and joined a few guys at the beach to catch the sunrise! too bad had a layer of clouds right above the sea so couldnt capture it rising from the water! oh well.. not like my compact could capture it in its full beauty.. then we cycled back much faster than the first day as i managed the slopes better.. we had lunch at sungei ringit again before going to my mango farm to buy mangoes! i bought the most at 5kg! woots! damn nice... finally reach pangarang and took the jetty home and was dismissed about 5pm.. took a cab home... showered and nap for an hour... packed my bag and left at 7pm for dinner then went to NUS for SOW 2008! met up with my og at their fear factor games! also went around taking shots as my SP wasn't around on day 1! after that i brought my OG despite all the tired looks to NUH for supper! I wanted to be high but the fatigue kinda took its toll on me so i decided to work harder on SOW day 2! ZzZzZ

Date: 31st July 2008
After breakfast together near the pharmacy block, we had CORS briefing followed by some cheers before we started our wet station games... thats when i discovered our OG inherited their seniors bad genes! hahaa.. cannot count.. cannot spell.. its simply hilarious! hahaa.. though some may get upset and dissapointed on not winning every game and all... we had our share of victories and lots and lots of fun! at least our hai tai was good! hahaa! there was also a mass dance session after that where everyone did the mass dance at the SRC grandstand! churi churi churi churi ahhhH~! with nightfall, there were somemore talks and then was our 2nd SP date~ hahaa my SP came today so had a short nice chat for 30min~ luckily my SP is chattable~ hahaa~ was tired so this time didnt go for supper but surprisingly my OG guys were so on they went to packet supper for us! not forgetting vivian's supper treat! =D

Date: 1st August 2008
After morning briefings and Sponsor talk, we had CORS bidding... after that wee siong and I had to leave the OG while they went to play amazing race in NUS.. well... we went to "help rag"... so i entrusted my camera to doreen and help me take photos.. meanwhile we were at S16 doing make up! everyone was so tired that we slept on the ground as the make up artiste painted us for the night! hahaa... when night fell.. finally the SP "Walk to Remember" started... truly memorable... coz... we were all there to scare them! hahaa.. gotta say it was painfully boring at times waiting for the couples to come and keep our motivation high to scare everyone of them.. this time our station wasn't as scary but more of stun type (pop out from blind corner)... kept at it till like 2am before we returned to join SOW for their applause for our effort put in...

Date: 2nd August 2008
its SENTOSA DAY!! after changing and clearing the LTs, we took shuttle bus to sentosa! whee~ was blessed with good weather and had lotsa fun playing the station games and the wargames too! had many photo moments doing algorithm marches and more! after the intense wargames, i had to rush off to my Annual Canoeing Dinner so quickly changed, help them take the SOW group shot again before rushing off home... quickly changed out into smart formal and went to marcus' house where liang kiat picked us up and headed to the chinese swimming club... was kinda unfortunate as there was barely enough food and most of the alumni complained they paid and couldnt even get a drink... still we went on and took group photos as i introduced the new motions of the alumni to everyone present at the dinner with slides i prepared on the way from marcus' house... after that a few of us headed to serangoon garden's grapevine for drinks and chatted before i called it a night... sunburnt, sore throat with tonnes of photos awaiting editing! zzzzz

Date: 3rd August 2008
Went for Lunch with my family and our distant relatives who came from indonesia for a visit... went to pioneer springs for dim sum lunch.. as usual the atmosphere was good (my brother had his wedding here with me as the MC) but the dim sum wasn't that fantastic! booo.. after that headed to vivocity with my cousins wanting to catch the movie but seats were all snapped up so just shopped around before i headed home for an early night....

Date: 4th August 2008
woke up early and brought my 17-40mm f4/L along to school for our freshman inauguration ceremony! sadly most of my freshies had other plans and only about 10 turned up for the ceremony... but to me, its not the quantity but rather the quality spent.. and we had lots of fun taking photos at UCC and all... when the freshies went in for the ceremony, the seniors went to munchy monkeys to chill~ after the ceremony was over we headed to marina square where we had dinner at the food court before playing 2 rounds of bowling! was damn and hilarious as many of us were damn high... getting strikes and cleaning the drains equally... lolx... we were joined with more peeps like kee wei, huiling and played in 3 different teams.. the winning team (with me!) the comeback team (with hazel) and the emo team! (doreen team) hahaa.. was too much fun for a day so we all headed straight home to rest.. coz tml is....

Date: 5th August 2008
FLAG DAY! omg... i was sooooo tired that i woke up at 6.45am! (the exact time i was supposed to be at chinatown) shell shocked, i quickly changed, grabbed my icebox and rushed out... reached chinatown about 8am and stayed mostly at the HQ we set up for our belongings and all as everyone dispersed into groups around chinatown... to be honest i never liked to flag... really hate to stoop myself so low esp to those a**holes who just treat us as non-existant and shrug us off... GRRR... did alittle flagging before passing over to hazel who did most of the flag while i stoned at the HQ... bought drinks and ice for my OG and went to pay them visits to monitor their morale... finally called it a day at 6pm and brought the tin cans back with hazel to NUS while the OG had K-session! wanted to check my camera since it got went in sentosa but the service centre was closed so just went back home and slept then..

Date: 6th August 2008
was supposedly rest day, but since zoe said we could stayover at the LTs at night, i got hard at work and edited almost 80% of the photos from part 1... the next thing i knew it was nightfall and i had to quickly pack my stuff with my 17-40mm f4/L again and left for school with icebox and "mango juice"... went to fong sheng for supper with Austin Powers and had a sumptous supper before heading back and playing some games before sleeping at 4am...

Date: 7th August 2008
after CORS bidding, we were given clues for Crack your head till the cows come home.. which in short.. was our amazing race around singapore! had lotsa places to go like chinatown, millenia walk, changi airport etc.. let the freshies take the lead this time so we headed to science centre, then to japanese garden then to changi airport and back... we went at a super relaxed pace chit chatting and having fun at the same time as watching other OGs from jappai running all over the place.. haha.. Safety 1st! Friendship 2nd! Competition 3rd! after high tea at changi airport we were running short of time so we went back JE to buy our BBQ stuff before heading back to school.. we then had our BBQ and fun games like sausage eating games.. finally we headed back to LT32 where it all started and had our finale prize presentation followed by the finale! our usual clubbing session in LT!! wheeee~~ after showering.. we finally had our truth or truth session where we learnt more about each other~~ arhhh interesting... those never come.. too baddd~ =P

its RAG Day! after breakfast we headed down to SRC and awaited the start of RAG day.. the floats this year boasted alot more mobile ones (like our muthu from RAG 2007).. survivors like Hui Ling, Pamela and Sheen Yee also came in their science fac tee and came down to support! in the end science clinched the Best Float award.. but lost to bizad for flag and overall champion... was really sad with all our work put in.. but we always say.. "SU LANG MAI SU SEH!" (Lose to people.. But never lose your Pride!) after helping to pack up, we headed to mac to have late lunch before i headed home and K.Oed...

*Pictures to be Uploaded at a Later Date*

So that has been how hectic life has been.. now as i unpack my stuff, convert my pictures and upload them onto facebook, its finally time to tune back to my responsibilities as a student first, president of canoeing alumni, member of SRJC alumni and friend to all my close friends... SOW 2008 has been a landmark in my life... accumulating 2236 photos with 11.5GB of size... i highly doubt myself being involved in another orientation.. but with so many photos, the memories will be etched deep.. though i definitely aint the best, good looking, high, cheery OGL around, i was glad that our OG was so well bonded thanks to the seniors and freshies alike... thank you Johnny English! Thank you SOW 2008! SOW 2008 has ended... LIFE IN NUS is set to begin! Let the friendships forged go beyond SOW as we walk down the life of a NUS student together...
