woots! had a very fun time shooting at the Singapore Zoo today! really heart my 70-200mm f4/L IS man!! Junwei and his friend didn't come so i met herman at KFC first for lunch.. unfortunately they ran out of free tix for me so I had to pay for my admission... But it was $18 well spent! While he was doing his duty, i went ahead to shoot the animals.. was really fun tracking them as they move around and waiting for the right moment before pressing the shutter.. there was a slight drizzle but otherwise the weather and light quality was really good! also gotta count myself lucky to have quite a few good encounters of the animals (eating, playing, making love etc) hahaa! here's some to share =D

End of Seletar Outing

End of Studio Course

Today is results day! haaa tried to force myself to sleep till 12noon so i dont have to wait in agony for my results but was really restless and woke up at 9am.. so i played Red Alert 3 until time flew past and after inputting my login id etc, without time to prepare myself mentally, the results slapped me smack in the face..

GEK1542 Forensic Science - A- (B+)
LSM2103 Cell Biology - B+ (B)
LSM2104 Essential Bioinformatics & Biocomputing - A- (B)
SSA2211 The Evolution of a Global City-State - A (B+)
ST2238 Introductory Biostatistics - B+ (B-)

*Expected grade from November (after the papers) in Parenthesis

Woots! This semester Cap = 4.4... Improvement of 0.1 from Year 1 Sem 2 (4.3).. Gotta say I'm lucky again coz of SSA2211.. Like how my SP1202 pushed up my CAP last year, SSA2211 ended up my strongest subject this sem~ So far my Cap = 4.13... Thankful as I am that the results turned out all better than expected, I really worked my a** off this sem and only got a 0.1 improvement, so it kinda worries me since next sem I'm gona take the experimental module and probably a lvl 3000 LSM module as insurance in case i can't map the module in Toronto.. Looking at things as it is, it seems getting a 1st Class Honours is out of the way for me, but i'll still work even harder next sem to inch up my 2nd Upper grade! Gonna need all the motivation and moral support from everyone again next semester!! Ganbatte everyone!!

yet another week down! man holidays are starting to speed up alot man~ soon its xmas.. then its NYE then school reopen! hahaa this week was pretty eventful though, as i signed up for 3 NUSPS events, the darkroom course, studio course and finally the seletar outing yesterday~ guess most of the members were overseas so didnt get to meet many new friends from NUSPS though =P

The darkroom course was pretty low demand, only 3 guys turned up~ hahaa~ so we were given a film SLR and went around school shooting.. saw brandon and samuel at SRC training, tried to take some pics of some hall practicing floorball and met fabby ys and jk for lunch at PGP.. after that we learned how to develop, stop bathe and fix the negatives... unfortunately i mixed up the film with a blank one so i had to do it twice! bleahss.. after that went to the darkroom where we learnt about the enlarger and the photo paper processing... makes me realise those movies like shutter are really quite fake!! but due to lack o time we did not have time to develop the negatives one at a time so i quickly scanned the pics using the NUSPS film scanner.. can't wait to go darkroom sometime soon to put what i learnt into practice!

Yong Shen's Shot

wednesday was studio photographY! met the other members at clark quay MRT and went to the camera rental centre where we learnt studio photography from Gerald.. was quite fun learning how to intepret studio pictures and the different layouts.. the members were prety camera shy (strangely) so we didnt really take much during the practical session.. after that we went for soya sauce chicken together before going to Ji De Chi for desserts~ i then went to coffee bean to chill before heading to orchard road to shop at centrepoint and plaza singapura to kill time till 6.30pm when i met my 1st 3 months classmates for dinner at manhatten fish market followed by drinks at starbucks!

Yesterday we went to Seletar Airport area for a photography outing, going around taking random shots of the area... the air there is really different, felt alot fresher and quiet.. the air qualit probably explains the diversity of birds and flowers i saw around as we walked about the estate.. too bad they gonna remove the whole area on 1st Jan 2009.. If only i knew this place earlier i wouldnt mind just hanging around there wasting time and enjoying the good weather~~ arhh~~ Heres some pics in honour of Seletar - One Less Eden

Today first off i met huiling san to get my Johnny Walker Green Label i asked her to buy from DFS for me (ARIGATOU!!) at PS.. then i went to orchard to embrace the thousands of people wandering around orchard... ok maybe that wasn't my primary objective but if i really stood still and counted......... i don't think i can count that high! hahaa it was really people mountain people sea... first stop i chiong to wisma pedro to check out the penny loafer i saw the other time at bugis, to my dismay it was $103 nett, stubbornly standing out from the row of shops with big S.A.L.E words pasted in front.. In protest, i decided not to buy it YET.. haha moreover a closer inspection of the bags at pedro wasn't as good as i hoped and abit too formal, so i went to isetan, agnes b, fcuk, tough jeansmith and Porter (URGH MY DREAM BAG IS STILL $360!!!) looking for a suitable bag for my dad but to no success.. so on... to TAKA~~

first went to zara and found another suitable option then went to CK and found a nice 50% off top.. also passed by sephora that was literally SWARMING with people, but it didnt seem any diff from any other cosmetic shops... i then went to takashimaya department store looking through their men department but also too formal.. then found a suitable timberland backpack (at 20% disc finally) but then decided to ask my dad and he voted for a slingbag! so i went to buy the gift vouchers so my mom can buy a wallet to her liking, then i went down to the basement, bought 4 boxes of Royce choc for my mother's side of the family ($15 each) then went to CK to try out the tops i short listed earlier and bought one thanks to the 50% discount = $120 cheaper... (Shucks I'm a sucker for discounts) then went to zara and take a closer look at the slingbag and bought it for my dad~ just nice in time i walked against the flow of human riverfall towards orchard as i fled away~ i noticed i drew some curious stares carrying like 6 bags of stuff (the zara bag was HUMONGOUS) and when i looked around the only ppl carrying so many stuff too were women? hmm figures..

just got back from dinner at my gramps and given out all the present i bought to my relatives and brother+sis-in-law~ will be going orchard AGAIN on monday so that can shop with my mom for her present~ maybe by then pedro will become wiser and go on discount or at least i find someone who has pedro VIP card~ 20% off pleaseee!!

Xmas Spoils for Myself CK, Topman, Zara - I JUST REALISED THEY ARE ALL POLO TEES WITH HORIZONTAL STRIPES!! ahahaa... thats the problem with buying them on separate days~ =P

Time to cut the separate the wheat from the chaff! Now playing around with Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera Raw... Whee so fun!

wow.. I have not updated this blog for quite a while huh? gotta say the past week has been super eventful! especially since our exams are ALL OVER... had alot of outings here and there.. went to orchard and raffles city like twice the last week with amos, my bioinformatics project group members, with my survivor OG and with the canoes.. did quite a fair bit of shopping and bought 2x polo tees so far.. had lotsa good food like xiao long bao shokudou etc.. also went to sitex with bin to check out the new gadgets and bought some stuff for my friends and my mom.. didn't find anything i needed to buy though! =P

since i was on ops manning and saturdays were the most probable for activation, I couldnt take up a photog assignment from alex, my SRJC next-door-classmate, and was even more dissapointed when i wasn't activated and had to spend the whole day at home stoning and trying to sleep early in anticipation for sunday's standard chartered 42km marathon.. somehow my 1hr nap on sat turned into a 4hrs nap and turned my sleeping cycle upside down.. after dinner i tried to sleep but had a headache and couldnt sleep well, waking up several times over the night due to anxiety and headache... only after 12mn i decided to take medication before falling into sleep..

woke up at 3am and walked over to lh place where we took a cab and picked up weiliang and liang kiat before heading to city hall.. dropped off our stuff at the baggage claim and waited quite a long while as daren's bus was quite late and ended up starting off behind the pack at the flag off point, the start was pretty enthusiastic as we chat and jogged at an easy pace with runspirators around the raffles place area, but when the route took us towards fort road, there was no one and the whole running pack turned silent and solemn and slowly the pace picked up and fluctuated alot.. at the 14km mark we started walking for quite abit till daren and lk got bored of walking and jogged ahead.. maybe coz of walking too long my legs were hurting like mad and felt like my headache was coming back.. ended up lh had to wait for me and we ended up walking all the way back amidst the hot sun... finished the marathon about 7hrs plus.. not really a good effort but i'm glad nonetheless i finished the marathon..

the gang went for lunch after the run but i had no appetite as i ran a mild fever and shared a cab with daren and knocked out after taking medication and a good shower.. applied a few dosages of tiger balm but the ache isn't going off that fast after all.. was quite an experience run-walking 42km.. to be honest, i joined the marathon to see if i can challenge myself but i guess the challenging-me thing pretty much died out with the lack of motivation to train for this stand chart.. told myself then the most i'll ever run again is 21km and do a better job at that than running even longer distances like the 84km ultramarathon.. Standard Chartered didn't feel that awe-inspiring as their ads and how people say it is with the seemingly lack of runspirators along most of the run route this year.. and the price is alittle too expensive to justify its cost.. so i guess thats it for me!! meanwhile its plenty of rest and back to normal regular training to get rid of the bulky fair me! was kinda dissapointed how even good friends can have such a lack of tact with their ego.. guess i need to find new running buddies for future runs..

at least now i've got the running vibe back in me!

A falling star
Least I fall alone.
I can't explain what you can't explain.
You're finding things that you didn't know
I look at you with such disdain
