updates! haha life's been pretty fun recently as i just watched 2 movies with my friends! watched kungfu panda with survivors at plaza singapura, raf, benedict, hazel and pam... was a really amusing movie that felt kinda short... maybe its like what benedict said, the funny antics just kept coming that we almost never had a boring moment... thumbs up for an animated movie! before that i also watched an anime movie called "toki wo kareru no shoujo" the girl who leapt through time.. though not as tear invoking as other renowned anime movies, this one had a special feel to it.. and though the crying scenes were needles to the ears, it was a overall nice movie that reminds us again how fragile life is and that time waits for no one..
saturday night was the annual St Gabriel's scout campfire so i went down again to meet old pals like zhan hao, alvin, sun tian, gabriel, gerald, john tay, daren, shawn, benjamin etc etc... was really nice to gather like every year to chit chat and reminisce our days when we were much more tough (running to touch the fence) and how dancing was our forte (now all they have are band perfomances).. after that we headed to grape vine for supper before i cycled on to SRJC to meet the rest of the gang for PICE V!!

Credits to Alvin Lee!
for those that read my blog regularly (i have no idea who) they should know what PICE is.. for those who don't, its a term i coined from our first serious overnight cycling expedition across at least half of singapore.. Pan Island Cycling Expedition.. In its 5h instalment, we headed to geylang for supper at the soya bean king... before heading to clarke quay... then cycled along the F1 track and went to Suntec City then to the Singapore Flyer... finally we chionged east to east coast park where we had breakfast and then we were homebound.. just as we passed yong shen's house, a super strong and chilling gust of wind hit it square in the face.. was so freaking cold it felt like we were cycling in genting.. in singlets! we sped up despite our growing fatigue and just as we hit ubi, it poured like crazy.. couldn't even blink and see anything... forced to stop for the rain to subside before we continued home.. was cold... wet.. but plain damn FUN!! haha you dont get to chiong on bike in the pouring rain everyday you know! PICE V completed! well done people!

Taken with Kodak Easy Share C380!
just last night i also catched 'get smart' with the canoes! was super impromptu as liang kiat and marcus had some db training beforehand and didnt quite tell me what was the plan... slept all the way till 3pm after the night cycing.. dazed around and slept again till dinner.. halfway through diner they decided to catch the movie so i rushed down to bishan j8 just in time.. the movie was pretty amusing too... though some parts were cliche, the entire movie was pretty amusing after all.. not too sure why my bro doesnt like it.. *shrugs*
been awhile since i really BLOGGEd instead of just pics.. but well.. didn't quite take alot of pics during the movie and PICE as i didnt bring my DSLR with me, but at least i got some nice shots on my kodak easyshare as usual on PICE!! soon it'll be the survivor chalet and i'm really in for some fun! today got ps by li hua again and ended up running again.. after much hesitation and all, i've finally decided once and for all to run everyday with or without company! gotta start training for AHM and runNUS which are both coming up! time to hit the track again deming! ganbarimasu!
just went down to NUS to find my friends having SCAMP... was fun to meet familar faces like weishan, sheen yee, jeremy, wei kit, tian boon, jasper, zoe, yvonne, zihan, simone... and alot others that didnt quite recognize me anymore.. hahaa.. was really fun, tiring and good learning experience for me... i am feeling dead beat right now.. making me think that my new lens' added weight has a trade off.. high picture quality... faster fatigue build up rate... all the concentration and quick thinking on the correct exposure should go a long way in helping me develop my photography skills! got tonnes of photos awaiting processing.. thank god i didnt volunteer to cover the entire SCAMP.. cant wait to get them done!
Update: As promised, heres the pictures! Particularly proud of my new lens sharpness and colour saturation! woots! totally in love with my 17-40mm f4L... except the only prob is that its a give and take as the nicer the photos were, the more time i took to tweak every single one of them... after fine adjustment on RAW format, i still went on to photoshop to practise some B&W conversions as well as S-curve adjustments... phew... think its good enough work to be paid someday~ hahaa.. but well... i did this out of voluntary action~ sure hope science club appreciates it! =P enjoy!

All pictures taken using 17-40mm f4/L... More on my Facebook Account! Maybe i should form a paypal account so my friends can make donations to me! hahaa... Next Lens = 50mm f1.8L... after that i will start looking for willing models who are willingly to pose for pictures! outdoor shoots! Book me early to prevent dissapointment! =]

phew.. now concurrently uploading my new pics as i blog.. haha just met up with this friendly guy from Sri Lanka who sold me the brand new 17-40mm F4/L.. its heavier than i thought but definitely feels sturdy.. though so far from far inspection it doesn't fare too badly against my current 18-55mm F 3.5-5.8 IS, shall see the difference between the two lenses with the test shots i've taken so far.. right after getting my lens at city hall, i headed to cathay then to TCW to finally get my B+W UV filter.. though i could have saved $15 from mass orders online via clubsnap, i couldnt wait to get my filter before i start shooting so i settled for one at TCW... then i started my shooting spree!
headed to the japanese memorial, then to the australian memorial, followed by in front of esplanade, merlion park then raffles place before calling it a day, heres some shots of the day~ the lens hood sure comes in handy esp with the glaring sun... if only it was big enough to protect me from the sun too~ hahaa.. but well as i walked around the memorials i really stopped at look at the names inscribed there, and a line struck me... "They Died That We May Live".. sometimes we really take peace for granted but i took some time to make a prayer and thank them that i may stand there today to take photos and to honour them...
Dedicated To the Brave Soldiers and Citizens who died in WW2:

They died so that we may live to see such beauty... In honour of all our ancestors..
